New Safety Features Will Benefit Shrevewood Elementary School Community
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Today, Providence District Supervisor Dalia Palchik announced important safety updates in the Shreve Road corridor, including a new flashing beacon installed at the W&OD crossing and Virginia Transportation Board approval of the Safe Routes to School grant for Shrevewood Elementary School.
“I am grateful for Supervisor Palchik’s leadership and continued commitment to the safety of our school communities,” said Karl Frisch, Providence District Representative on the Fairfax County School Board. “These improvements will help students become more physically active and healthy and make Shreve Road safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists alike.”
The Safe Routes to School programs help students become more physically active while taking cars off the road. About 30 percent of FCPS elementary and middle schools currently take part in the program.
